Like in “Last Man Standing,” Allen’s character in “Home Improvement” is a father of three children and is obsessed with passing down his manhood. Going back to “Home Improvement” reruns makes the most sense for “Last Man Standing” fans, since Allen’s latest show was considered a spiritual successor to his hit 1990s series.
